MVAA launches new website for Michigan veterans

Gulf War Frontline

MVAA launches new website: Michigan.gov/MVAA

homepage

Dear fellow veteran,

The Michigan Veterans Affairs Agency has launched a new website, Michigan.gov/MVAA, which offers users a wealth of information about veteran benefits and resources in a portal that's easy to navigate.

The new site, which replaces MichiganVeterans.com, was designed with the veteran in mind. As the central coordinating agency for Michigan's nearly 600,000 veterans and their families, the MVAA helps veterans break down barriers in all phases of life – from areas ranging from education to employment to long-term care – and the new website serves as a key resource in this endeavor.

On our new homepage, users will find a group of key categories stripped across the top:

Our EMPLOYMENT page will assist veterans who are looking for jobs, entrepreneurship opportunities and licensing and credentialing help, as well as employers interested in hiring veterans.

Looking to use your GI Bill, get academic credit for your service or tap into financial aid? EDUCATION lays it all out, providing myriad resources for veterans and educators.

HEALTH & WELFARE provides information on VA health care, mental health resources, caregiver assistance, long-term care and much more.

OTHER BENEFITS & RESOURCES covers other types of benefits – including disability compensation, home loans and emergency aid – and is broken down into state and federal benefit categories.

Our final two categories are WOMEN VETERANS, which highlights our She is A Veteran campaign, and ABOUT US, which includes information about our leadership, requesting an MVAA speaker at your event and more.

Displayed prominently in the middle of our homepage is our contact information – 1-800-MICH-VET (1-800-642-4838) and the link to our Check on MIVet form, through which veterans can get a free benefits check.

Below that are links to key benefits and resources, including the DD-214 Request Form to retrieve your separation documents. Coming soon is our searchable database for accredited Veteran Service Officers or benefits counselors in every Michigan county. In the meantime, call 1-800-MICH-VET to locate a benefits counselor.

Further down our homepage you'll find information for the VA Crisis Line (1-800-273-8255), our News section featuring MVAA news releases, our events calendar and a real-time ticker of the MVAA Facebook page.

Finally, at the bottom of the homepage, you'll find our address and general email box, social media links and a signup box for our veteran newsletter.

We're proud of this new website and trust it will be a helpful guide to veterans, dependents and veteran advocates as we work to make Michigan the place veterans choose to live, raise a family, work and retire. Feel free to bookmark the site and let us know what you think by emailing MVAA-Newsroom@michigan.gov.

Respectfully,

sig
